Seeing that makes me feel kinda guilty my own origami kung fu hasn't advanced beyond Kawasaki roses. Here's my most recent one, I think:
Yes, it's painted. Started out as a black sheet of paper. Takes a couple of hours to fold, a bit more to paint. I've really got to learn to round those corners. You can find the instructions on origami.com. If you're tempted to try, feel free to bug me if you've any trouble. Be warned that, when using fairly thick paper like I use, you might have to place a couple of incisions to persuade it to settle into the right shape.
